A UK trained and accredited integrative Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist with a Doctorate from Middlesex University, UK, I am registered, accredited and practice as a ‘Psychological Psychotherapist (CBT)’ here in Germany. I have lived and worked abroad for many years (Germany, Finland, Sweden, China and US) and have practiced in this time both in English and German with a wide range of clients, both in short term and long term, in private practice. My many years of living in a variety of cultures inspired my Doctoral Research in the area of Psychology into transgenerational trauma and intercultural relational dynamics and these insights are interwoven into my client work.
Prior to becoming a psychologist, I took a degree in Communication Studies, followed by a post-grad in Marketing and worked several years in the communications sector (sales, marketing, advertising, communications training, intercultural coaching) in varying locations worldwide. This experience informs and enriches my work with clients facing workplace issues or who find themselves overwhelmed due to the intercultural issues both
professionally and personally.
I offer psychological psychotherapy for a variety of issues, including trauma, post-traumatic stress, feelings of anxiety, low mood or feelings of depression, relational difficulties, grief, loss, crisis management and cultural adaptation. I value creating a collaborative therapeutic bond with my clients, which I believe is key to nurturing individual and relational well-being, stability, change and growth. My work is always informed by attention to such factors as cultural background, disability and sexual orientation. I adhere to the code of ethics laid down by my accrediting institutions.
I work collaboratively with the client using a flexible approach which is tailored to each person’s individual needs. I don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ philosophy in my work as every person I see is different and each treatment plan needs to be honed to meet individual goals. I work at providing a safe space in which our therapeutic relationship is experienced as authentic, mutual, supportive, non-judgemental, honest, challenging and compassionate. Together we work at building a supportive space in which you feel safe to challenge yourself and risk behaving, thinking and experiencing differently.
